O Uivo

‘O Uivo’, literally «the Howl» – as in Allen Ginsberg’s poem -, turns the computer into a gleaner of real instruments’ sounds and improvisation techniques, adapting itself to them and improvising accordingly, using only the manipulation of the recorded sounds. I was conceived as a response to a challenge by guitarist Paulo Vaz de Carvalho, with whom it was premiered. It inspired Ernst and it will have a new, expanded and hopefully more reliable, version soon.
